Too Good To Be True
Aer Lingus is refusing to honour flights to the US that it mistakenly sold for only €5, approx £4.
The company blamed a technical error on its website for the mistake which gave away business class flights normally valued at €1,775 each way. But consumer watchdog the Consumers’ Association of Ireland said customers who had booked hotels and connecting flights on the back of their Aer Lingus deal deserved compensation.
Aer Lingus said the problem was linked to a special offer where customers who bought a premier class seat were to be given a second for free. “The problem was the free seats actually leaked on to the website,” an airline spokesman said, adding: “I think anyone would have known it was a mistake when they made the bookings.”
