BA Strike Banned By Court

Posted on 17 May 2010 by Airline News

The British Airways strike planned for tomorrow and lasting five days has been banned by The High Court.

Mr Justice McCombe’s ruled that the union representing British Airways cabin crew had not followed rules regarding contacting it’s members about the strike ballot results.

BA won the injunction thanks to a legal technicality within the Trade Union And Labour Relations Consolidation Act of 1992… Within this act are rules stating that after a strike ballot trade unions must contact all their members and provide an exact breakdown of the votes.

British Airways was able to argue that Unite had not discharged that obligation effectively.

Unite say they will appeal against the ruling.
