British Airways Strike

Posted on 23 February 2010 by Airline News

The trade union Unite has announced the results of a strike ballot held by their BA cabin crew members and the result is in favour of strike action. At the time of writing, a strike / strike dates has / have not been announced. If you have an existing booking on a flight operated by British Airways then the most important thing at the moment is to ensure that your contact details are up to date. BA will likely use both email and SMS to keep passengers informed of flight cancellations caused by a strike as well as BA.com.

From the BA website : (taken on 23 Feb – check BA.com for the most up to date info).

If strike dates are announced we plan to continue operating some of our flights. We will put contingency plans in place and communicate them as soon as possible.

You will be able to rebook, free of charge and subject to availability, onto other British Airways flights outside of the strike period for up to 355 days from the original date of travel.

Refunds will only be available if flights are actually cancelled or if the original booking conditions allow.

The union would have to give British Airways seven days notice of strike dates and more legal action would be likely to try and avert the strike.
