Iceland Express, the Icelandic low cost airline whose flights are operated by UK airline Astreaus is going to start selling flights to New York.
The service will start in June 2010 and will be just four times a week from Reykjavik to New York with connecting services available from the existing Iceland Express European network of destinations that includes London (both Gatwick and Stansted), Berlin and Copenhagen. It is not yet known if the new New York flights will connect with the Reykjavik – Birmingham flights that Iceland Express has also announced will be operated for summer 2010. It has been reported in Icelandic media that the airline will start recruiting for new flight crew soon.
Other “new” routes from Iceland Express for summer 2010 are Luxembourg, Oslo, Milan and The Netherlands. Some of these have been operated before though. More details at IcelandExpress.com
